JET SET EXPERIENCES: Into Africa! BEACH BLISS

JetSet owner Julia Douglas’s favorite way to experience Africa is to combine bush and beach. After several days spent on safari, the Kenya and Tanzania coast is calling.

STAY
Discover barefoot luxury at the North Island in the Seychelles. Eleven private guest villas have been crafted from local materials, fusing luxury and simplicity. Coming soon to the Seychelles is the posh Four Seasons Desroches. Located on the remote Mirante—a 35-minute flight from Mahé—explore nine miles of white beach. One of our favorites to add on to South Africa experience is Mozambique’s &Beyond Benguerra. Situated on the second largest island in the sunny Bazaruto Archipelago, the lodge is located on a protected marine conservation area, with dare-to-leave-me beaches and unspoiled coral reefs.

WOW FACTOR
Visit Fregate Island—a stunning jewel of the Seychelles that’s home to 2,200 free-roaming Giant Aldabra tortoises, and is a Banyan Hill estate on a completely secluded peninsula.

JET SET EXPERIENCES: Into Africa! ACTIVE PURSUITS

Game drives, though incredible, can also become incredibly sedentary. For those adventurers on the go, here’s how to break it up:

-Play tennis in the bush at Singita Sabora. Then shoot archery and visit an anti-poaching observation point with Singita Explore.

-Fly in an open cockpit biplane in Kenya. A former crop-dusting pilot, local aviator Will Craig takes two passengers over forests, herds of game, and ravines otherwise virtually inaccessible.

-Take a Wild Overnight Hiking Safari with Lewa Wilderness, with local Maasai moran as guides and camels as support.

– Mountain bike through the bush and move camp each night.

WOW FACTOR
Run with the Maasai Warriors. Upon request (and conditions allowing), run with Maasai warriors and local staff at Alex Walker’s Serian Camp in Kenya. With a support vehicle trailing for safety, pass hyena, elephant, and giraffe on foot—a serious adrenaline fix!

JET SET EXPERIENCES: Into Africa! THE GREAT MIGRATION

JetSet curates itineraries specific to The Great Migration. Visitors to East Africa often pay top dollar to experience the magic of catching thousands of wildebeest during the annual migration. We know when to go, where to go, and the best vantage points for witnessing this majestic sight. Wildebeest crossing the Serengeti under a double rainbow? Check!

STAY
Singita Explore (Tanzania, Grumeti Game Reserve) is glamping on steroids. This private mobile camp traverses a 350,000-acre private concession in the Serengeti and can pack up when appropriate in tracking The Great Migration.

WOW FACTOR
Singita’s Faru Faru Lodge is perfectly positioned near a drinking hole and river—which means you may spy an action-packed river crossing during The Great Migration. Plus, the lodge’s contemporary design (bush meets Zanzibar) and incredible cuisine is tried and trending.
