Winter is upon us and there is no better way to embrace the dropping temperatures than to head out west for an epic ski weekend! Jackson Hole, Wyoming has long been a destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking roaming and soaring wildlife, world-class fly-fishing and ethereal adventures in the jagged peaks of the Teton Mountain Range.

Recently voted #1 Ski Resort for 2015 by Forbes, and long loved by ski bums everywhere, Jackson Hole boasts three resorts famous for their consistently powdery conditions, charming villages and luxury accommodations. With slopes for every level, top-notch instructors and a wide array of side and backcountry offerings, this is the perfect destination to rediscover your inner adrenaline junkie.

The Amangani offers unparalleled views of Grand Teton National Park from the comfort of your cozy and well-appointed room. Their world-class service extends beyond the resort to a private Ski Lounge, located at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort where your warm boots and ski technicians will get you on the hill in no time – and hot chocolate and snacks will be awaiting your return.

If you prefer to stay slope side, the Four Seasons Jackson Hole provides a luxurious experience with spacious rooms and residences, each with their own fireplace to cap off a long but rewarding day on the mountain. Take flight with their Extraordinary Experience: a helicopter ride from Jackson Hole over the greater Yellowstone ecosystem with a local biologist as your guide!

Off piste, take the family out dogsledding, ice-skating or on a sleigh-ride to a riverside tipi camp for a private lunch. There are plenty of activities to inspire awe in this wide-open wonderland.

Air service into Jackson Hole has expanded for the 2014/2015 seasons and offers direct flights from 15 US cities including Washington DC, Chicago, Dallas and San Francisco. So pack your bags, hop a quick flight and embrace the fresh mountain air. If it is going to be cold, you might as well be enjoying the snow!

JETSET EXPERIENCES: What’s more American than corn?

We are not talking about corn you can eat but corn you can ski on! Corn snow forms in the spring when it thaws, freezes and turns granular and just outside of Anchorage in the Tordrillo Mountains, is the base for Kings & Corn, run by Chugach Powder Guides. Enjoy five action packed days corn snow heli-skiing and snowboarding, some of the best King Salmon and Trout fishing in the world, and whitewater rafting in one helicopter supported trip.  For active adventurers that want more than a flop and drop at the beach, this is an experience of a lifetime full of excitement and dramatic mountain scenery, during 24 hours of sunshine!

When you are ready to slow down, you should not miss the hearty Alaskans and harbor seals surfing the boar tide in Turanagain Arm outside of Anchorage. The waves can climb up to 10 feet with speeds of 15 miles per hour roaring along 50 miles of coastline.  On lucky days, the beluga whales will come in to feed off the fish in the deeper waters of the tide.

Not to leave out the bears, hiking, biking, boating, and dog sledding as a few other fun jaunts. There are a plethora of diverse experiences for explorers of all ages and activity levels. If you are interested in travels to this great state, email

JETSET EXPERIENCES: Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy

A UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, the Dolomite mountains are one of the most unique and breathtakingly beautiful alpine regions in the world.  Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, home of the 1956 Winter Olympics, is uniquely located at the base of these majestic mountains and is known as one of the best ski resort in the Alps.  It is a mix of modern day adventure, fashion and Italian lifestyle, sure to please even the most discerning traveler.

While the center of town is nestled in an old Italian village with plenty of charm, there have been many modern upgrades to the accommodations, including Grand Hotel Savoia.  Featuring contemporary mountain design and an exquisite spa, you can spend your days exploring the great outdoors literally surrounding you and return to the hotel for some much needed rest and relaxation.

Cortina is the ultimate destination for families or groups with varying skiing ability.  Offering a variety of slopes, and even more slope-side dining options, don’t miss an opportunity to embrace the local fare with dinner atop the mountain in a local refugio, and burn off the cheese and grappa with a late-night ski (illuminated by snowmobile) back down to the village.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to explore the Dolomites in Italy, add it to your bucket list – you will not be disappointed.  For more information on booking your summer or winter holiday contact Lindsey Woodcock,
