At one time perhaps best known for its “coffee shops” and Red Light district, current Amsterdam boasts world-class museums, delicious cuisine, unique architecture, new hotels, private home rentals, and a long and eventful history. This cornerstone of the merchant class in Europe is best navigated by canal boat or bike, and it makes an excellent stand-alone destination for a long weekend or a wonderful addition to a European tour.
The private home package offered by Eleven Experience truly delivers the best of the best when visiting Amsterdam. A direct view onto the canal, private chef, customized guide service, dedicated concierge-style coordinator, and private canal boat and captain combine to make such a stay a perfect fit for families or friends traveling together.
The museums in Amsterdam are not to be missed. The Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum, The Six Collection (private) and of course, the Anne Frank house are incredible and worth the trip alone.
Two favorite hotels sure to provide a memorable stay, depending on your style and desired location in the city, are The Dylan Hotel and the Conservatorium.
Direct flights from many major US cities put Amsterdam within easy reach. Please contact Melissa Pugh to design your visit.
Only a 45-minute flight from Miami, but an entire world away, Cuba and its people are authentic beyond measure. The allure of Cuba and its “forbiddenness” have attracted the more adventurous and experiential traveler for decades. With the recent opening between Cuba and the US, accessibility has improved and subsequently demand has increased. Change is imminent – and accelerating.
Isolated from Americans, but not new to tourism, Havana offers endless appeal from its colonial architecture, historical automobiles, pervasive music, progressive art, world famous cigars, and sports prowess – an enduring source of national pride. However, the best kept secret is its people. Cubans are joyful, generous, proud – brimming with life. Their singing, dancing, socializing – all a part of daily life – ooze from every corner at all hours of the day. One feels safer in Havana than in many other cities around the world.

The JET SET team recently ventured west for our annual retreat; a time to brainstorm, share recent travel experiences, and explore a new destination together. This year brought us to the vibrant, charming, and artistic town of Santa Fe in northern New Mexico. We packed in as much as we possibly could in our three nights and four days: tasted our way through delicious local cuisine, scoured various luxury properties throughout town, hiked local trails to swim in waterfalls, discovered the rich Pueblo Indian heritage, enjoyed poolside meetings, ensured the spa treatments at the Four Seasons Rancho Encantado Resort were up to par (they were!), and absorbed as much of the fantastic art in the city as possible.
The art in this small town is incredible; a full day is required just to walk the famous Canyon Road row of galleries and artist’s studios. The art will draw me back to Santa Fe, as will the opportunity to experience the world famous Santa Fe Opera House. Running around five performances every summer, the open-air theatre with the Sangre de Cristo and Jamez Mountains in the background apparently make for a phenomenal and dramatic addition to the performance on stage. Before the show, we kept hearing about the refined tailgating experience (as well as diverse attire from tuxedos to bolos and cowboy boots – anything goes!) Many top chefs in town offer multi–course, farm to table meals complete with wine pairings, and candelabras – in the parking lot! Sign me up.
