Enjoying a six-course dinner on my birthday at the private chef’s table of Alain Ducasse’s restaurant at the luxurious Plaza Athenee in Paris. Certainly not an everyday experience and one I’ll never forget.

Melissa R. Pugh

Hometown:
Spirit Lake, IA

Specialization:
Family travel, honeymoons, adventure travel, New Zealand and Australia, Europe, island destinations, South America, and many more!

Never Travel Without:
A wrap. It’s a versatile piece for warmth, as a cover up for modesty at temples, and also ideal to spruce up a basic outfit. Take a colorful one!

Top Travel Memory:
My first trip overseas was when I was 20 to study in New Zealand. I had never been abroad. This trip changed the course of my life. I arrived, bought a car with two strangers I had just met, and we traveled almost every inch of all three islands of New Zealand (North, South, and Stewart Islands). While meeting other travelers along the way and discovering a new destination, I realized there was so much more to the life I had planned. I came back to graduate college and then moved to Ireland, which prompted the next six years of my life overseas, traveling to more than 60 countries and six continents. My original dream was to be a news anchor for NBC Chicago 5 News where I was interning. Now, I have my actual dream job and I watch the news daily! Win, win!

Best Foodie Find:
There are many markets in London, but Maltby St. Market is high touch and full of locals. It’s an unadvertised market where the locals go to avoid the big crowds. Shhhhh, our little secret!

On My Bucket List:
Svalbard to see the polar bears; Ibiza, where the party is hot, hot, hot, yet evolving into a wonderful family destination, too; Sicily and Puglia are the next “to dos” on my Italian journey; Greenland; and Rwanda—I would love to go and walk amongst the gorillas.

Caroline H. Sprunger

Hometown:
Indianapolis, IN

Never Travel Without:
My computer! Working on the road is an essential in this business!

Top Travel Memory:
A nearly two-month voyage through the Galápagos Islands. By night we cruised between the islands. By day we hiked the islands, snorkeled around them, and engaged with the Galápagos' distinctive wildlife: sea lions, giant tortoises, Galapagos sharks, Darwin finches, blue-footed boobies and waved albatross, to name a few.

Best Foodie Find:
Indulging in a delectable eight-course meal at the Beau-Rivage Palace Hotel in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Lake Geneva. The exotic assortment of food paired with the intoxicating views of the Swiss Alps was sheer bliss!

On My Bucket List:
South Africa, hands down! I'm a foodie, wine lover, adventure addict, and am passionate about immersing myself into the culture of the destinations I experience. The country has absolutely everything to offer, and I dream of going on my first safari in South Africa. Traveling here would tick many boxes on my rather lengthy bucket list!

Jill L. Taylor

Hometown:

Specialization:
Africa, Italy, multi-country Europe, oenophile (wine) travel, soft adventure.

Never Travel Without:
An open mind, backpack with my SLR camera, a water bottle, and a few too many scarfs.

Top Travel Memory:
Experiencing a walking safari in Zambia with no internet, no cellphones, and just being in the moment. While on foot, a pack of 21 wild dogs came running by us--chasing an impala--and made a kill within 50 yards. I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone and it was exhilarating!

Best Foodie Find:
An "agricucina" in Cortina, Italy, which featured local ingredients, including meats and cheeses from their farm, wild herbs from the surrounding alpine meadows, and fresh produce from their own kitchen garden. All paired with incredible 360-views of the Italian Alps. SanBrite's talented chef Riccardo Gaspari (winner of several culinary awards) wanted to create something entirely new after having put his family’s agriturismo (mountain farm and restaurant) El Brite, on the culinary map.

On My Bucket List:
Sardinia, Faroe Islands, Western Australia, and the Himalayas.

Never Travel Without:
Most important: Curious mind and open soul.

In My Suitcase:
Running Shoes (best way to explore a new place and fight off jet lag), water bottle (can never have enough H2O when traveling) and a scarf (great for the plane, early mornings and casual outings).

Top Travel Memory:
Oftentimes the greatest adventures are found close to home and in the simplest of circumstance. I spent a week exploring Kauai from top to bottom, hiking the Napali Coast and exploring Waimea Canyon. The landscape seemed from another time--lush, vibrant, and wild. And the people we encountered along the way, all seeking similar raw natural beauty, reinforced the fact that this is an incredibly powerful experience and destination.

Best Foodie Find:
La Huella in Jose Ignacio, Uruguay. This little beach restaurant makes you feel like you are in the South of France, but with the laid back Uruguayan vibe. Enjoy delectable seaside cuisine, Limoncello palate cleansers, and bare feet in the sand!

On My Bucket List:
Remote beaches in the Philippines, Uyuni salt flats in Bolivia via Airstream, exploring Canada coast-to-coast on Trans Canadian Railway, a road trip through New Zealand, and a Botswana safari.

Never Travel Without:
My cashmere wrap and my Bose wireless headphones.

Top Travel Memory:
Enjoying a sundowner with my family as nightfall ascended over the plains of the Serengeti in the Masai Mara. We reminisced about the great migration that we were lucky enough to see in person. Every day in the bush holds new and exciting memories that last a lifetime. A close second was admiring the beauty of Petra in Jordan, the Taj Mahal in India, and the Pyramids in Egypt. All are sights I will never forget!

Best Foodie Find:
Indulging in a delectable eight-course meal at the Beau-Rivage Palace Hotel in Lausanne, Switzerland on Lake Geneva. The exotic assortment of food paired with the intoxicating views of the Swiss Alps was sheer bliss!

Riding Horses through Mongolia during the Golden Eagle Festival; climbing Mt Blanc in France; trekking with the gorillas in Congo or Rwanda, and taking a boat from Argentina to Antarctica to see the polar bears.

A gourmet picnic on the bank of Lake Piuray after a morning paddleboard in the Sacred Valley, prepared by two locals showcasing the colorful diet of the Peruvians.

The best empanadas I had were found at a local food and art market in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires. Some of the best food experiences are those that don't require reservations.

On My Bucket List:
To experience the Icelandic volcanoes; swim in geothermal rivers, and go diving between tectonic plates in glacial waters. View the northern lights in Finland and staying in a glass igloo. Sailing around Antigua and the West Indies.

Walking around the small, charming, harbor town of Derry, Northern Ireland and indulging in fresh fish and chips on the water.

ON MY BUCKET LIST:
I am eager to take a boat down the Amalfi Coast and stop at various places to enjoy all of the delicious food Italy has to offer. I would love to then make my way to Greece from there and explore the historic architecture.
